Important Firmware Update Requirement for Quo-Lab A1c Test Kits

HaB direct, the UK distributor for EKF Diagnostics, is issuing this notice to inform Quo-Lab users of an important update affecting the use of Quo-Lab A1c Test Kits manufactured from February 2026 onwards.

Quo-Lab HbA1c Blood Analyser

Affected products

This notice applies to Quo-Lab A1c Test Kits manufactured from February 2026, starting with LOT number 065001 with an expiry date of 29 August 2026. All subsequent lots beginning with 065xxx are included.

What is changing

EKF Diagnostics has introduced new barcodes on Quo-Lab A1c Test Kits manufactured from February 2026 onwards. These new barcodes can only be read by Quo-Lab analysers that have been updated to Firmware version 4.10.

If a Quo-Lab analyser has not been updated to Firmware 4.10, it will not be possible to use A1c Test Kits with LOT numbers beginning 065xxx. This change follows previous communications referenced as SI-250001 and SI-250007 and marks the deadline for completing firmware updates across all Quo-Lab analysers.

All newly manufactured Quo-Lab A1c Test Kits released from the EKF Diagnostics manufacturing site in Barleben will feature the new barcodes. For the next six months, test kit boxes will also include an information leaflet reminding users of the firmware requirement and explaining how to check the analyser software version.

What action is required

All Quo-Lab users must confirm that their analyser is running Firmware version 4.10 before using newly manufactured A1c Test Kits.

The firmware version can be checked during start-up. When powering on the Quo-Lab analyser, the firmware version is displayed on the screen for approximately two seconds. This appears between three and ten seconds into the start-up process.

If your analyser is not running Firmware 4.10, you must urgently contact your supplier to obtain the Update Utility Tool and the relevant support documentation, including Support Information SI-250001 and SI-250006.
